SHARYLAND - In what was perhaps the game of the year, the Valley View Tigers outlasted the Sharyland Rattlers in penalty kicks to advance to the regional semi-finals next weekend.

Despite not having any goals in the first half, the game featured six total goals before heading to penalty kicks. A shot from Valley View's Adrian Rodriguez deflected off the Sharyland keeper with under two minutes to go in the game, allowing Valley View's Yonathan Castro to finish the goal and send the game to overtime.

In overtime, Rodriguez opened the scoring with a penalty kick. Sharyland answered with a late equalizer from Alejandro Castello off a cross from a free kick.

After two 10-minute periods of overtime, Valley View's Diego Cuellar saved the Rattlers' fifth attempt from the spot to seal the win.

Valley View will be taking on San Antonio Southwest next Friday, April 12, at noon in Corpus Christi.
